So much  history is in the region. Life must have been interesting when the Viceroy was around. So much was built such faded glory exists.

Today was a day to tinker with cars and take a train ride on a narrow gage Indian railway.

In its day it allowed people to travel around this area. The mountains and valleys are so stunning but the going is tough. There is no flat ground and no straight roads. So the railway was so necessary it was build turn of the last century by the British.

Had breakfast and a taxis picked our group up. About half ventured on the trip. Some are desperately trying to fix their cars. Last night we heard one team has given up and headed home. A few others are still trying to catch up, one is  awaiting a new transmission. Others are struggling with exhaust manifolds and still others from damage caused by rocks and gravel.

First class toilet ….!!

Narrow gauge Shimla railway designed to bring Brits out of the hot summer lowlands

Beside our headlight issues and the slates on the grill coming loose once again the car (fingers crossed) is running very well. We added a little air to the right rear tire but otherwise the car is good.

So other than our bad results yesterday we have made every stage and every race leg.

We sit by a hair now second in class. Tomorrow is another day.

The train ride was fun but the ride there and back was too long. We needed more time to prepare for tomorrow.  Seven days straight now ahead for us and into very rural religious parts of India. No alcohol allowed  we hold our altitude for a few more days. Close to 8000 feet. We aren’t taking any medications and both feel pretty good so far. A few have succumb to Delhi Belly but knock on wood till now  we are spared. We are Washing hands frequently and watching what we eat. So it seems to be working so far.

Off to pack up the car for a 7:00am start.

Hopefully there will be internet again soon
